IAG is rumoured to buy Norwegian Air. Two bases in Spain will be closed, the fleet and workforce will be scaled down...

Norwegian has recently asked their crew to confirm their position within the seniority list as anticipation of this possible buyout.

Kinja'd!!!

This will likely mean that Level will bite the dust and that travellers who use to take transatlantic and Western European routes will have fewer options.

Norwegian just opened operation out of NY Stewart SWF, I used them to fly to Ireland 2 months ago and it was super convenient and cheap. I wonder how this will effect that?

I took a flight on Level this past summer. Direct flight one way from LAX to BCN for $165! Best deal I’ve ever gotten for a flight, an 11 hour journey for less than the average price of flying cross country domestic. Would think that Norwegian would fit in perfectly there, just adding more routes to that network. The most surprising part to me was that it was a pretty normal flight. Flight attendants were nice, everything seemed organized, seats were comfortable, and they had free movies to watch. I expected “the spirit Airlines of international travel” but honestly it was on par with the other full cost providers.

I've also flown Norwegian from JFK to Bergen, Norway one way for $200. At the time I thought that was the most amazing deal. Also a completely normal flight experience. The only caveat for both was that there was no checked bag included and they would have been abnormally expensive to include. But rollaboard carryon and personal item were included so I just packed light!

I never understood Level. I mean... it’s Iberia but under a different name I suppose... why not just keep it as iberia and save yourself hundreds of thousands of dollars in paint and IT?

Level is supposed to be a lower cost, long haul carrier. Like Norwegian, JetStar, Scoot or Brussels Airlines. IAG wanted a piece of that market. It really wanted it. Apparently.

And Norwegian really took the fight to BA and Iberia on transatlantic routes. So that’s that.

Is there a British Airways/Iberia/Aer Lingus flight on those routes too?

I wonder how long will the city breaks, halfway around the world,  be a reality, with fuel costs going up and up.

Maybe they’ll come up with  a new livery for Norwegian that doesn’t look like a pill.

As far as I know, not from Stewart. I believe they were mostly a cargo hub until Norwegian started flights from there. It’s pretty convenient because it was  just  as cheap as flights from JFK or Newark but saved well over an hour of driving to get there

Which is why I wonder why didn’t Iberia just fly with the normal colours, and name, and simply charge less or run full-economy jets? I mean... those are their jets  after all...

Because they wanna keep their brand image?

Also, Level was programmed to become an airline in it’s own right, with 15-20 widebody planes in the next few years, and own AOC and crew. Of course, it's hard to tell if they will survive a Norwegian integration into IAG.
